“Back in February of 2020, I was not in a good place. I was doing the Black girl I like beer and yoga and maybe 3 people vintage shirt it is in the first place but final edits of my memoir Between Two Kingdoms, but I was constantly distracted. I felt stuck and claustrophobic in my Brooklyn apartment, and I was sure I would never finish my book. One night, when I felt especially desperate for a change of scenery, I impulsively logged onto Airbnb, and I came across this beautiful, airy, inviting Airbnb in Hudson, New York. It had a wood stove and a big kitchen table where I could spread out all my marked up proof pages. I booked it on the spot. The next day I piled into the car with the essentials: my dog Oscar, some warm clothes, some good books, and my computer monitor. I spent nearly a week there in a self-styled writing retreat and did nothing but work on my book. When I finished each day,
